Digital Painting of a Faerie.

October 13, 2017

Real time videos available at: https://gumroad.com/cgsbgs_chrisscalf as well as the custom brush set that I used to do this work.
This took me about 5 hours and I am not totally satisfied with it. I think it needs one more round of detailing on it. I might come back at it after a week of not looking at it and add something to it. If I do I will of course post the progress here.
I used my “Hair Skin Fur” custom photoshop brushes mostly to create this. The part of the painting that I really didn’t get around to tightening was the left arm. It’s probably all wrong. I mostly got caught up in the line between realism and fantasy. Realism puts too much of a constraint on a piece like this especially when you are trying to create escapism fantasy. But again; will probably try another pass at it in a week or so. 🙂
ALSO: I am including several layered PSD working versions of this painting at various stages in the Gumroad link above. You can view those to further dissect my technique OR— I even welcome anyone (beginner or PRO) to jump in on one of those earlier versions and finish it your way, and post it somewhere. 🙂 That would be neat and I think something awesome for the artist community.

I use a Wacom Intuos 3 and this is all of course Photoshop CC
